INTRODUCTION:
Definition of Violence- Violence against women and girls is defined in ‘the United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women’ as
"… any form of gender based violence, that results in, or is likely to result in, physical,sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occuring in public or private life."
Gender-based violence is violence involving men and women,in which the female is usually the victim; and which is derived from inequitable power relationship between men and women.Violence is directed specially against a woman because she is a woman.Violence against women generally derives from the perceived inferiority of women and their inequitable status.
I am only focusing on violence against women at private life,i.e., domestic violence which is the most pervasive yet least recognized human rights abuse in many countries.
Deprived of everykind of right from the moment she is born, a woman is constantly told how weak, insignificant and dependent she is.Her identity, more over is determined by her relationship with a male: she is somebody’s daughter, wife or mother.I am now going to focus on some domestic violence occured in many socities till now.
