Are you racist? Biased? Sexist?
Find out in a few minutes using Harvard’s Project Implicit.
Charles M. Blow, the visual Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, set the web a-Twitter this morning with ‘A Nation of Cowards?‘ his look at the controversial statement by Attorney General Eric Holder.
He didn’t agree with Holder– though I do– but agreed that racism still pervades our country. To prove it, he points to the long-standing Project Implicit, an association test that lays bare our subconscious prejudices by asking us questions on weight, race, gender, ethnicity and religion in a way that doesn’t let us lie.
The results show that whether or not we are a nation of cowards, we are a nation of racists, with whites, hispanics and asians showing a strong bias in favor of whites. For blacks the question is more complicated, as they split biases between whites and blacks. But none are neutral.
