Have tea with the orang-utan or watch the monkeys being fed!

When my brother visited Singapore last month he was very much impressed with the Singapore Zoo.he had taken lots of snap shots of the zoo and told me a lot about it.

The Singapore Zoo is considered to be the best in the world. It employs the use of moats and rock walls as natural barriers. Spread over 100 hectares, its 2000 animals come from over 240 species including 40 from the list of endangered species. Surrounded partially by the Serene Seletar Reservoir, the zoo is undoubtedly a perfect blend of animal and plant life.

Careful and meticulous planning has gone into the inception of this zoo and the maintenance has been remarkable. Enclosure fences are hardly visible, and plants are skilfully used as screens and camouflages.

The unique features of the zoo are the animal shows, animal feeding, rides, photography and the children’s world. The live shows of primates, elephants and sea lions are fascinating. While watching the animals being fed, one learns many interesting facts about their behaviour and habits.

The highlight of a visit to the zoo could well be the opportunity to have breakfast or afternoon tea with the orang-utan.
