New Delhi: Anna Hazare (72), started fight for good governances by
demolishing corruption menace prevailing in country for the last several years
by installing ‘Lokpal Bill’ pending for more than 40 years in Parliament. Atmosphere
across the country is similar to that of Mahatma Gandhi’s era when he started
fight for self governance by demolishing British rule in India.
Common people of all shades and all ages are jumping in to
stage massive protests against government of the day. As for the last two years
half a dozen of ministers and bureaucrats have been indicted, jailed or removed
from their positions on the pretext of corruption.
Hazare started hunger strike on April 4th with a
demand of structuring draft for Lokpal Bill with 50 percent participation of
elected members and 50 percent from common people. Though government has
offered to discuss but Hazare refused doubting credibility of politicians and
their false promises.
Not only has this but politicians are strictly prohibited to
hijack the people agenda for their vested political interests to which several
leaders were stopped to share the stage with Hazare at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
It is not about Congress ministers and coalition partners United Progressive Alliance
(UPA) but politicians and bureaucrats across the country would have to answer
the people of country now, protestors demand.
Stir is going to engulf Government of India as well as several
state governments as the common people in unprecedented numbers are joining
agitation at their native destination. Even Indians abroad have shown warm
response to Anna’s move.
Hate against politicians and bureaucrats is growing among
common people with every passing day and protests are being organized in every
corner of country from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Social networking
system is abuzz in sport of Anna. The question at the end of day worth thinking
is that will Anna repeat history successfully as Mahatam Gandhi did in 1947 or
not? Let’s wait and watch.
