CHITRAL: Habib bank has refused to provide fresh currency notes to its customers in Chitral. According to details Habib Bank ltd has refused to provide fresh currency notes to its account holders who spread across the district. This refusal has been made quoting security issue. Trade Union Drosh has appealed Governor State Bank of Pakistan to look into the matter and ask HBL authorities to provide fresh notes to its customers. Business circles said that HBL has 7 branches in Chitral and hundreds of business men had their accounts in these branches but the services of this financial institute were falling day by day. They demanded the higher authorities to take the issue seriously.
HBL Chitral officials confirmed the news adding that they have sent letters to Head quarters and Regional HQ but the RHQ has asked Chitral branch that they were unable to provide huge cash to be transported to Chitral because it becomes security issue. However RHQ has asked HBL Chitral to take the currency notes by their own arrangement and HBL Chitral was not ready for it.
It is surprising matter that HBL regional head quarters facilitate supply of currency up to Upper Dir and in that case there were no security issues but sending currency to Chitral becomes danger.
It is the responsibility of banking service provider to give required services to their customers even if it required hiring of aerial service but here it seems that HBL Chitral was totally out of order which was bringing bad name to the organization.
