A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Saturday directed the housing societies of judges, MLAs, MPs, All India service officers including Indian Revenue Service officers, AP special police, and journalists not to allot house sites for its members until further orders.
Justice Nooty Rammohan Rao and Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy while dealing with two writ petition filed against the allotments of house sites to the members of these societies observed that “those respondent societies which have already taken possession of land shall not allot them to their members and thus create third party interest therein”.
The bench also directed that if some plots were already allotted by some societies, no further development by way of improving the existing status of the land shall be taken up by them. The bench issued notices to the respondent housing societies to file their counters before July 26 and asked the petitioners to file their replies before August 6. The bench will take up the final hearing on the petition on August 8
