1.IMPATIENCE AND PROCRASTINATION;
According to a Research Study conducted by Mr.Ernesto Reuben of Kellogg School of Management, there is a clear link between procrastination and impatience, despite the fact they are two opposite traits of a person.
It is not as if persons affected by this type of a condition want to deliberately procrastinate or show discourtesy to other persons by being impatient. It is a psychological condition by which they put off important tasks over and over again. In other words, procrastinators are impatient people and because of their impatience, they tend to procrastinate.
Procrastination adversely affects one’s productivity and results in vast amount of money being lost as people having such a tendency, postpone work indefinitely. Hence, if you happen to come across such people in your life, instead of getting irritated, please guide them to take psychological help.
2.SLEEP DEPRIVATION AND OBSESITY IN CHILDREN:
In a study conducted by the John Hopkins Blomberg School of Public Health in the U.S.A., a clear association between sleep duration and the risk of obesity in children has been established. According to Youfa Wang, the Chief Researcher, that with each additional hour of sleep, the risk of a child becoming obese or afflicted by overweight drops by 9%.
The researchers under his team came to this conclusion after reviewing 17 published studies on sleep deprivation and childhood obesity out of which 11 were taken for meta-analysis. The results showed that children with shortest sleep duration had a 92% higher risk of being obese compared to the children having longer sleep duration. The yardsticks varied depending upon the age of the children Thus for kids under the age of 5, shortest sleep duration meant less than 19 hours of sleep per day. For children between the age of 5 and 10, it is meant less than 8 hours of sleep per day and for children over 10, it meant less than 7 hours of sleep per day.
A VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THE STUDY IS THAT THE CONDITION IS ASSOCIATED ONLY WITH THE BOYS AND NOT GIRLS. Besides, the study would have significant implications in societies where children are pressurized for academic excellence as a result of which they may not get the required quantum of sleep. Quality of sleep is yet another factor which needs to be further researched to determine its impact on obesity.
