Veggies
Veggies are the healthiest snack for your furry companions. You can never serve veggies and their nutrition to your dog’s meal plan. Also, veggies must be served to your doggy in moderation. Hence it must be maintained at limits. You must steam all the veggies you serve your doggy. The outer skin of veggies is tough to digest for the under-developed digestive tract of dogs. Hence steaming can help digestion of veggies.
Steaming or boiling of veggies will help remove dirt, bacteria on the outer coat of veggies to complement your dog’s health condition. You can serve a wide variety of veggies with your doggy, but make sure to test every veggie before you serve in rotational plans. Some dogs may be allergic to certain veggies.
Serve only slices of veggie and observe your dog’s reaction. You must always follow this thumb rule for dog’s diet plan while you introduce a new food. Serve fiber-rich veggies like green beans, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, sweet potato, asparagus, carrots and much more. Keep in mind that you must serve veggies only as a snack to your doggy!
Fruits
Yes, you can plan a rotational zig-zag plan of veggies and fruit snack for your dog’s evening time. The zig-zag plan of snack balances your dog’s nutritional needs. Your doggy’s premium formulas provide enough calories and energy for the whole day, but the supplements can boost his immune system.
Fruits are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and are most importantly low-calorie diets. Hence serving fruits will maintain your dog’s gut health as well as weight. As dogs grew older, they may pounce up. In the case of feeding veggies and fruit zig-zag plans, your doggy finds regular digestion with no upset stomach, if fed in right proportions. You can add many fiber-rich fruits like apple slices, cantaloupe, avocado flesh, pumpkin, tomato, blackberries, blueberries, strawberry, cherry, bananas, in your furry buddies diet plan.
Keep in mind that overfeeding of fruits to dogs leads to loose stools production, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea. Hence know how to serve every fruit to dogs before serving your doggy!
Common snacks
Dogs can’t eat every human snack. The dogs must be restricted to some popular human snacks like chocolate, nuts, potato chips, pizza, or some other fatty foods. You can serve some whole grain diets to your doggy at the snack time. For example, oatmeals, air-popped popcorns, fruit salad and another healthy snack. Do you wonder that can dogs eat popcorn? Yes, dogs can eat popcorn, but serve only plain, air-popped popcorn to your dogs. Unpopped popcorn kernels can block the gastrointestinal tract of dogs and leads to digestive issues. Serve popcorn in limits to your doggy. Only 10-15 popcorn balls are enough for your doggy.
A whole pack of popcorn can upset your dog’s tummy. Other snacks like potato chips, chocolate, nuts can be toxic to your doggy. If your doggy eats any one of these toxic snacks, then contact your vet immediately. It saves your pet life!
