Heavy snowfall at Chitral

Chitral received heavy snowfall once again this week.

CHITRAL: The entire district of Chitral once again received heavy snow on Sunday this week at second time.  As a result supply of electricity to Chitral once again suspended due to heavy snowfall at Lawari top where main transmission line of 33 KV have been carried out to Chitral. The local powerhouse of one megawatt could not overcome to supply electricity to Chitral even to town areas because of existing old parts of 1977. The weather is very much cold and Chitral is in grip of serve chilly and cold weather due to continue rain and snowfall. Road of Chitral remained empty because of less traffic and people of the entire district besieged inside their houses.

Upper areas of Chitral like Mastuj, Mulkoh, Torkoh, Terich also received heavy snowfall hence there is no loss of property or human until filling of this report. Main road of Chitral have been blocked for all type of vehicular traffic at Lawari top hence NHA allow Chitral people to travel inside the Lawari tunnel at least for  2 hours a day. But the main problem of Chitral people is longest break down of power. People of the area are in the opinion that there plentiful water at Chitral having potential of 4500 mega watt of power generating but no one has taken practically step in this regard. Social and political circle of Chitral also lamented trade union and local people who on their gesture harassing outsider greengrocers and mobile venders who carrying fresh vegitable in their vehicles and selling it as mobile venders on a cheap rate as comparative to local shopkeepers but they worrying and creating hurdles in their ways to discourage them. They also demanded for establishment of micro hydro power stations as well as up-gradation of local power house from one to 6 megawatt so as to settle this problem for ever.  Besides it wood stall owner has increased rate of fire wood from 160 per 40 KG to 280 rupees per 40 KG without the permission of the district administration and there is no one to stopp them by increasing rate of fire wood illegally.
