Chitral Received heavy snow on Friday. Communication system compounded.

CHITRAL:  Chitral received heavy snowfall on Thursday and Friday night. As a result communication system and supply of electricity totally failed and compounded. As well as the only land route of Chitral also closed via Lawari tunnel due to heavy snowfall at Ziarat. Sartaj Ahmad Khan former Tehsil Nazim told this scribe that some 3 feet 8 inches snow recorded at Ziarat as a result main road leading to Tunnel blocked for vehicular traffic hence National Highway Authority (NHA) removed the snow from main road at Chitral side but road is still block at Dir side due to heavy snowfall. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department Chitral some 15 Inches snow recorded at Met office Chitral. Telephone system badly disturbed during snowfall as well as Peshawar electricity Supply company staff badly failed to restored supply of electricity suspended by snowfall even after stopping of snow and in clear weather on Friday. Temperatures recorded minus one (-1) on Friday morning as a result Chitral once again in grip of sever cold weather. Residents of Chitral have appeal high ups of provincial and   federal government for restoring traffic through the Lawari tunnel and supply of electricity immediately.
