The cold and dry spell continued in Pakistan despite a noticeable low-weather activity over north of the country. Scattered clouds hovered sparsely though. Life has slowed down in the city for over a week now since the cold front swept across Pakistan.
On Friday, the low-pressure activity encompassing the north of Pakistan resulted in more chill, forcing even the maximum temperature below zero degrees C in six towns of the country. Over 29 towns recorded below zero on the minimum side in the country. No region was an exception to the extreme cold except Sindh. In the NWFP, Northern Areas and Kashmir, 11 towns each registered in negatives on the minimum side. Punjab had five such towns, while Balochistan had three.

There is a low-weather activity over Caspian Sea in the west. There are loads of a cold mass just northeast to this activity over the Central Asian Republics. If the low-weather system took some shape over the Caspian, it would surely move on its usual northeast, easterly route towards Pakistan. It would also take some helpings from the cold mass suspended further north on its way. In case such a situation develops, cold yet not so dry weather will prevail in the country in the few coming days. It will depend on the contrast in temperature the emerging system finds on its course. At the moment, there is not much difference, implying the chances of the system getting momentum are not so bright. Satellite picture, however, suggests cold and mixed weather on Saturday.
