A study reveals that people who feel chronic stress in their work place are at a high risk of getting depression. Researchers found that among more than 24,000 working Canadian adults, nearly 5 percent had suffered from major depression in the past year. Those under heavy stress at work appeared to be at particular risk, according to findings in the American Journal of Public Health. Other diseases like blood-pressure and heart also associated with chronic stress in work place. The result is quite different in case of women because depression is related with decision taking ability. One measure of job stress — lack of support from co-workers and supervisors — was related to depression in both men and women.
Proper medical attention should be given to the employees by the employer to skip this dreaded disease.
