six boys and two girls born to a woman in Southern California are reported to be breathing without assistance.
Octoplets are rare and this is the second instance in the history to be born alive. These babies were delivered in the C-section last Monday in a Medical Center in Beliflour. The earlier incident took place in 1998 when a 27 year old American of Nigerian Origin gave delivery to six girls and two boys. In this case, it is exactly reverse, six boys and two girls.
The news of the birth received wide media attention, but the mother had requested annonymity. Perhaps, becuase of this the Hospital Officials have not confirmed whether she had undergone fertility treatment.
It was a surprise for both the Mother and the Doctors when the 8th baby was delivered as they were expecting only 7. It is God’s grace that they did not miss this as because of human error there was every possibility of this happening and the 8th one has made the difference for getting into the history.
