Hizbul Mujahideen commander killed in Kashmir

In a major success, Doda police today managed to kill top Hizbul Mujahideen Commander operating in the district for the last fourteen years during an operation in Marmat area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.   
 
 
 
 
Irfan Dar, Deputy Commander of HM, who was liquidated today morning in a joint operation by Doda police and 10 Rastriya Rifles was involved in a number of massacres, extortion and IED blasts in the area.
 
Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Manohar Singh told merinews that the operation is still continuing as there is a possibility of neutralizing some more anti-national elements holed up in the area. Earlier, the police recovered one AK-47 rifle, one wireless set, AK magazines and a large amount of incriminating material from the possession of the slain militant. Here it must be mentioned that Doda police in the last one month has put relentless pressure on the terror operators in collaboration with Army and paramilitary forces.
 
Yesterday, Doda police had arrested two extortionists, who had been impersonating as terrorists and forcing people to part with money for the last few months. One fake AK-47 rifle, 1 toy grenade and 2 lady dresses were recovered from their possession along with Rs 20000 extorted from residents of village Tendla.
 
Manohar Singh said that a relentless campaign has been launched against the terrorists but the local militants are also being taken into confidence so that they can come back into the national mainstream. He also said that police was not only conducting terror operations but in order to foster closer relations with the people it is also taking up many activities to improve police public relations. In this regard, he informed that Doda police organized a langar at Bhaderwah, Hayan and Kailash Kund during the Kailash Yatra besides police help sites to facilitate the movement of the devotees..
