Conducting Workshops to improve employment quotient in students: VITS Principal
Proddatur (GR-TYP-BIN): Hone communication skills to grab the best opportunities in the job market. Those who gain proficiency in communication skills will undoubtedly have a better future in the job market as the communicative skills hold a key in the recruitment process, said Professor RLN Raju, VIT-Vellore.
He participated in one day National Seminar on ‘Job Skill – Job Opportunity’ organized by Vaagedevi Institute of Technology and Science (VITS) on February 28.
Speaking on the occasion, the Professor said that Former President of India Abdul Kalam and great actor Charlie Chaplin are the best examples of what they did with their communicative skills. He urged the students to follow their example.
Emphasizing the job opportunities both in India and abroad, Dr. Karthikeyan said that the students from the rural background should strive to grab the opportunities in the international market.
Explaining about the fear factor, Dr. Anil Prem Raj hinted that attending this kind of seminars can remove the fear factor among the students with the rural background. He observed that inferiority complex and nervousness are the main impediments to success in interviews.
Stressing the common errors and rules of group discussions, Dr. Christopher Rajasekharan exhorted the students how to follow the rules while participating in the group discussions. He conducted listening games and group discussions to make the students interact within the group and overcome the fear factor. He illustrated these communicative techniques through the video visuals and power-point presentation.
VITS Principal Dr. N Kumara Swamy said that we are regularly conducting this type of seminars and workshops to make our students improve their employability prospects and more competent in the international job market.
180 Students from various colleges participated in the programme and they said that this workshop benefited them immensely.
Workshop Convener Mr. G Obulesu, Co-convener Mrs. A Varalakshmi, Basic Science HOD MVV Prasad and Faculty Members participated in the programme.
