Hornets’ Chris Paul Deserves to Win the MVP Award

What would be the reactions of NBA fans around the world if New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul bagged the MVP award? Well may be the Lakers’ diehard fans would react because their Kobe is a frequent frontrunner in the MVP race but often pfft along the way. And now that Chris Paul had emerged in Kobe’s path, could it be another debacle for Kobe to miss the race to complete his star status?

Kobe is a great player and yes a ball hog. And his Lakers parade the best players in the league of superstar’s caliber. But before that Kobe as leader of the team failed to rev up his team in a post O’Neal Lakers. His superstar status failed to carry the team in succession. In short, the Lakers is not a one man Kobe team.

Bothered, the Lakers surmised that Kobe alone is not the answer in sustaining their team’s status as one of the NBA’s prolific teams. So they made adjustments and got Pau Gasol to their lineup which eventually helped Kobe in both offense and defense. Not only that, Kobe is backed-up by Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton and deep bench.

Meanwhile, Chris Paul, the prolific point guard of New Orleans Hornets carried his team from the regular season to the playoff round. His team was said to be a ragtag team and his teammates have no All-Star billings to flaunt about. But Chris Paul and the Hornets proved the critics wrong. They played as a team and treat themselves as equal partners in putting their opponents into submission.

The verdict: Kobe Bryant as NBA superstars could not carry his team in his lonesome and he needs Pau Gasol and the Lakers’ deep bench in topping the Pacific Division and probably the Western Conference. Therefore, Kobe is not worth the MVP award.

On the other hand, Chris Paul was able to carry his team to their best season ever without the help of big shot NBA players. Chris Paul is a big factor for the Hornets where he ignited a unified and resilient team in which his teammates responded emphatically. For this, Chris Paul should be voted as NBA’s Most Valuable Player.
