Eisenberg had alleged that he was raped by the priest. This did not come into light until Eisenberg was arrested the previous night after he walked into the campaign office of Democratic hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton (NY). It was thought he had a bomb strapped to his chest. However, the bomb turned out to be fake as they were nothing but road flares according to the police.
At least five people were taken hostage. None of them were harmed by the time the standoff ended five hours later. He surrendered to police while complaining about how he couldn’t get mental health treatment.
The 2002 lawsuit is against current Boston Archdiocese Bernard Law. Back then, he was the Archbishop Cardinal. He resigned that year after public outrage with court documents showing he moved priests from one parish to another while not disclosing sexual-abuse allegations against them.
The lawsuit explained that Eisenberg was 21 years of age and homeless. He lived in a junkyard in Massachusetts before going to the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Catherine. Eisenberg explained about the reason for being homeless such as the loss of his mother and the abuse at the hands of a violent and alcoholic father.
A legal source said that he was also addicted to drugs and alcohol.
He was hired as a painter and was given room and boarding. The lawsuit states a priest at the parish would show him material of the pornographic nature before the act of molestation. It further explains that one night Eisenberg got drunk at a club. The same priest picked him up.
Eisenberg passed out, woke up, and found himself being raped in the driveway of the parish.
The document also states that one week after the alleged incident, Eisenberg attempted suicide.
Clinton says that she had no previous contact with Eisenberg. She explains that Eisenberg looks like someone who needed help but sought attention in the wrong way.
Currently, he faces state charges of four kidnapping counts, one charge of threatening, and one count of false use of an explosive device. Eisenberg could face federal charges as well.
