House Cleaning: The Things We Constantly Forget To Clean

Even if you are a neat freak and you like to get things in your house in order, you might miss a spot now and then. Actually, there are places in our homes that we tend to forget to clean, and that usually happens due to their inaccessibility. If you want to do the seasonal cleaning right then you must pay attention to this spots:

Behind and under our furniture/appliances

Do you move your furniture when you mop your floors? Do you ever remove cobwebs behind your wardrobe? How about behind your stove? These place are usually the forgotten places, but if you cannot see it, that doesn’t mean that the dirt doesn’t exist in your homes. Do this at least twice a year, especially if you have pets in your home or if you have small children.

Fridge Defrosting

Fridge defrosting should also be done a couple of times a year. There are a few reasons for that. First, this is the best way to maintain it clean. Second, you will prolong its lifespan by defrosting regularly because all the ice can be harmful for other fridge parts. Third, you will get the chance to throw the things that might not be the best choice for a meal, and lastly, you will get rid of all the mixed odor from the refrigerator.

Curtains and drapes

Curtains and drapes might look clean, but they are constantly filled with dust. In a house where people smoke, it gets even worse, all that smoke and smell gets stuck into the fabric. If you are suffering from allergies, this can be something really irritating, causing you to sneeze constantly, cough or even have watery eyes. Wash your curtains each month and you will immediately see the results. Your home will look and smell better, and it will certainly be much cleaner.

Walls

Cleaning walls might sound strange, but if you are not repainting them each year, you should definitely clean them. The problem is more or less the same as with the curtains – there is a lot of dust on the walls, anything you cook in your house makes them greasy and they can get quite dirty if you touch them with dirty hands. The easiest way to clean the walls is to mop them just the way you mop your floor. If you have light-colored walls then repainting might be the best solution in the end.

Light switches and jacks

Who cleans these? Well, since you are touching them so much, they can be a  source of various diseases and filth, so you need to think about these, too. Some switches and jacks are removable, so you can easily remove the plastic and sink it into a cleaning solution. Others might not be that easy to clean, and remember, if you cannot remove them then you need to be really careful while cleaning them. Don’t get them wet in order to avoid any possible electrical accidents.

Children’s Toys

This is for all the parents around the world with small children – you need to clean their playgrounds, toys and toy boxes regularly. Children are carefree and they won’t think about washing their hands every time they get dirty. Plus, imagine a toy ending up in your toilet. This is why you need to wash and steam their toys at least once a week, especially because smaller children like to put toys in their mouths.

AC Filters

Air conditioning is a lifesaver during the hot summer, but it can also be a great trouble-maker. Filthy AC filters can be really harmful for our health, especially our respiratory system. Air passes through these filters and is circulating all over the room, if the filter is full of dust and germs, you will be inhaling low quality air of . Clean or change the filters at least once a year and you will have no worries.

If you forget to clean any of these places and things in your home then you should start doing that now. It is not enough to make your house look clean, you should really make it clean if you want to live in a healthy environment.
