House Republicans Launch ‘Change You Deserve’ Platform

Recently, Democrat Travis Childers has against Republican Mayor of Southaven Greg Davis for the vacant seat in Mississippi. This was a Democratic victory in a primarily Republican district. It shows that the playing field is definitely changing. But, that was not the only seat that the GOP had loss in the House.

Now, the GOP leaders in the US House of Representatives now have a new plan for “change.” Under their new plan, the House Republicans are bringing a message of “Change You Deserve.” This new plans is to focus on working mothers and military families.

In the respect for military families, there is a chance that the military voting bloc could be split. In regards to Iraq, it has been the main platform of presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. McCain opposes the expansion to the GI Bill drawn up by Democratic Senator Jim Webb of Virginia. Instead, he wanted the alternative that focuses on building career soldiers.

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the expansion of the GI Bill is a way of saying thanks to the veterans that served overseas. A few weeks ago, veterans from all branches of the military that served in Iraq and Afghanistan complained about the current state of the GI Bill.

The Pentagon supports the bill. However, they feel that those should serve at least six years instead of three years. The GI Bill could end up being a hot topic in regards to education, the economy, and Iraq. It is highly likely that it will be hotly debated by McCain and the eventual Democratic nominee.

But, it seems that Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama of Illinois may have the best chance of clinching the Democratic nomination. However, co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York is not out of the race yet. She recently won West Virginia. But, the victory did not do much. Also, polls show that Clinton is also showing strong in Kentucky.

There are a few contests left.

House Republicans say that it is the nation’s duty to take care of the troops, veterans, and their families. They add it is their duty to keep the families of troops and veterans safe. However, they added that the war on terror must continue until they have obtained victory.

To Tom Davis, former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, the reputation of the GOP has been flushed down the toilet. This is a sign that the Republican Party is in turmoil.

However, it is unknown what effect this will have in the general election races. Recently, Evangelical Christians looks to no longer be an exclusive voting bloc of the GOP. So far, this voting bloc has been split.

While Obama is using the message of “change,” House Republicans are using the message of “change you deserve.”
