There are many birds living in our surroundings. Usually they have only limited age but they use to reproduce well in making their kind to survive. Different bird species differ from the way they mate and reproduce in some way but generally they share some common characteristics.
Majority of the birds throughout the world are found to be monogamous in their nature. Some of the birds are found to have a single partner throughout the whole of their lives. It is believed that birds stick to their single partner because the male birds participate in rearing their young ones or their baby birds.
The male bird use to have two testes inside their body near the kidney organ. When the breeding season come, the size of the testes increases. Like the male reproductive organ, the female bird’s ovaries also increase in size during the breeding season and eventually the ovum will be produced.
In the question how do birds mate, the answer is that the mating of the birds generally starts in a period of courtship. In this period, the male birds try to who the female bird in which the male bird tries to sing or dance in order to attract the female bird. When the female bird is willing to accept the male bird, the female bird will then change the position of her tail keeping it to the side.
In the actual mating, the male bird will position his cloaca near the female’s cloaca. The cloaca of both the female and the male bird are pressed tightly together and the sperm of the male bird will pass through the female bird. The sperm now from the male bird will mate the egg cell from the ovary of the female bird. The fertilized eggs are then be laid by the female bird using the same opening.
The sperm of the male bird could be stored inside from the female bird for a long time the reason why it is not really important for the bird to mate frequently. The male bird’s sperm cell will be fertilized with the female bird’s egg cell in such time that sperm and the egg cell meet each other.
However, the birds copulate for a number of times during the breeding season. The reason for this is that in this season the male and the female bird’s hormones are very much active in their systems making them to have undeniable urge to have sex with their bird mate.
