I wrote a story some days back, the basic theme was – people who stick to an organisation really climb high on the corporate ladder. You know an old common saying – ‘the slow and steady wins the race.’
I got some interesting opinions; majority of them stated that it is only that lot who come from the big league of schools such as IIT and IIM who really move to the topmost position like MS Banga did. He joined HLL as a management trainee and made it to the company’s board of directors at a young age of 41. He is an IIT – IIM pass out. After going through the other success stories of the same nature I was convinced that the opinions were correct.
The other group of people who made it to the top ladder in this manner were the ones from highly influential families, the rest you can surely figure out.
So what do we assume by this? Do you have to be either an extremely brilliant person or an extremely lucky person who is born with a silver spoon to make it to the top league?
What about the others? The common man with a decent degree and an average brain? Will he be stuck to the lower or middle management all his life? Or is there a way out?
