How to make homemade instant oatmeal packets

Homemade Instant Oatmeal Packets

To prepare 6 baggies, first combine 4 cups old fashioned oats (NOT quick cooking) and 3/4 tsp salt in a food processor OR blender and grind them (in 2 batches if necessary) to the consistency of wheat germ.

Scoop 1/2 cup portions into separate ziploc baggies. Flavor each one (MIX INS BELOW), then seal and shake to mix. You can mark each one with a permanent marker if you’d like.

ADD INS: Cinnamon Raisin: 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp raisins, dash of cinnamon.

Brown Sugar Spice: 1 tsp packed brown sugar, a dash each of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, & clove.

Apple Pie: 1 tsp apple pie spice, and 2 Tbsp chopped dried apple.

Prepare as you would with the store bought packets.

I figured out that the savings is over 50% when you factor in all the extras.

Consider paying full price for the following:

42 oz canister of the Old Fashioned Oats: $4.99

24 oz can of Sunmaid Raisins: $3.99

1 lb. box of Domino Brown Sugar: $1.00

So for argument of comparison, for 3 oz of total ingredients you are paying $.35 here, (even though you may use more or less raisins/brown sugar than oatmeal)

As compared to (1) 14.2 oz Box of the Quaker Oatmeal & Raisin & Spice Packets which costs $4.19

So you are saving more than 50%.
