India is a large country with different religions, languages, castes, creed and each one of them is predominant in its own way. For example the Hindus in India have a unique culture, their own law, food habits, tradition, their own festivals like deewali the festival of lights, Vijaya Dasami etc. Some states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala celebrate their own harvest festivals like Pongal and Onam respectively.Similarly muslims living in India have their own law, culture, tradition, festivals like Ramzan, Bakrid etc.Similarly the Sikhs living in Punjab have their own unique religion the Sikhism, their own Holy temple at Amirthasaras.Similarly the christians living in India have their own culture, celebrate their own festivals like Christmas etc.All these things indicate that in India unity prevails in diversity.
But of late some narrow minded politicians in India, with sheer parochialism are spreading sons of the soil policy more venemously to the detriment of the unity that prevails in India. But in this hour of crisis, our primary duty is to remain united as ever.
There is a simple underlying method to follow it.We call one of our family members, he belongs to our family.Just expand the idea. The family living to our next door on either side irrespective of their religion, culture etc, we call them as our neighbours.A family living just a few hundred meters away from our family, we call them, they reside in our street. When we further expand it, he is of our village or our town. Then he is of our taluk. He is of our district. Then he is of our state, Tamil Nadu. Then he is of our Nation, India.
Just widen your horizon. You can find that the nation is so small. Then the world is so small. Then you will find that the universe we live in is also so small. When we have such a large heartedness, to think to the level of universe, why should we be so parochial and narrow-minded. Just widen your horizon. Become global. Then you will find all your narrow-mindedness has gone. Therefore, think global, be united.
