How to Save Money on Gas

Saving money on gas has become extremely important. Finding feasible ways to do so is something we should all be looking into. Here are a few ways in which you can save money on gas.

1.       Combine trips for the day. If you need to go to the grocery store, doctor, and pay a bill, set a plan so that you can accomplish all three tasks on the same day. This will automatically save you money because you aren’t driving home and back out to each place.

2.       Go shopping with someone else. Get together with a friend or family member and car pool to the store. Take turns each week so both of you save money on gas. This one also helps with emission problems!

3.       Walk more. If you live in a small town you can probably walk to some places you need to go such as the post office or convenience store. This will save money on gas and get you some exercise in the process!

4.       Ride your bike. For places that are a little too far to walk, ride a bike. This is even good for getting to work if you live close enough to your place of employment. Be sure and get a bike lock before doing this. It’d be bad to come out of the store to find your bike stolen.

5.       Buy a motorcycle. If you are adventurous you might want to purchase a motorcycle to drive back and forth to work and for other short trips. They are much less expensive to fill up than other vehicles. If you go this route be sure and take a driving course on motorcycle safety.

6.       Car pool to work. This idea has been around for a long time and it’s still a great one. Carpooling saves money on gas and helps the environment. The more people you can get in the car pool group the more money each of you will save.

7.       Have your children ride the bus to school. Parents often drive their children to school for one reason or another. If you child doesn’t have a health problem or serious reason for not riding the bus, then let them. This will save ten trips in your car each week during the school year. That adds up to a major gas savings.

8.       Let your kids carpool. If your children are already driving themselves to school let them carpool with their buddies. Four or five kids can carpool together. Each one taking a week at a time to drive their car. This will be beneficial to each family involved. It’s probably a good idea to watch how the other kids drive before letting yours ride with them though!

9.       Drive slower. There is evidence that every five miles we go slower uses less gas. Leave a little earlier and take your time. It can’t hurt!

10.   Combine as many of the above tips as you can to save the most money on gas expenses. Each little thing will add to your savings.

These aren’t hard tips to follow. Everyone will benefit financially and the environment will benefit from less pollution. Take these tips into consideration the next time you stop and fill up at the pump.
