If you have a feeling inside that you can become a great singer and musician, you should definitely try to be one. You will have to take music learning classes and go through a process of a few years in order to come out a polished musician who can stun people with his/her performance at any given moment. While it may seem that music learning is all about learning how to play a certain instrument and sing, that’s not the case. Learning music can introduce much more in your personality than just the talent of being a musician.
Look at some of the greatest singers and bands of the world to see how down to earth they were. By greatest it means the greatest and not particularly the most popular. In the modern world if you are more mainstream you will be more popular. However, that does not guarantee that you are a great musician. If you learn music with passion and heart you will definitely see many things changing in you as a person. What are those things that you learn when taking music training aside from learning just music?
Patience
Patience is not just something you learn while learning music but it is also a trait that helps you through the learning process. If you don’t have patience you can’t expect to learn anything. Learning music takes time. Playing an instrument takes time and is frustrating on so many levels. Training your voice to be flawless in its tone requires huge amount of practice. All of this requires patience from you. By the time you are done with your music course you come out as a person with great patience. You know how to wait for things because you know your wait will be worth the wait.
Ability to Take Criticism
Whether you are taking an online course or learning from a teacher face to face, you will have to prepare yourself to take great criticism. You have to remember that you are a student and you are going through the learning phase. Everything you do will have something missing and you will be criticized for that. If there is no criticism you will never know what’s wrong with you. After taking criticism from your teacher and other peers learning with you, there comes an ability in you to take criticism for the good it holds in it for you.
Confidence
This one is quite an understood one. You can only face hundreds and thousands of people when you are confident about what you are doing. This also shows that you have trust in your performance, skills and talent. When you are ready to believe that you can do it, you will do it. Many people in the world are unable to show great and unique talents in them just because they are afraid to come in front of the crowd. While learning you will have faced criticism and experts so many times that singing in front of the audience will be no big task for you.
Art of Respecting
According to an expert from American Academy, it is quite easy to disrespect someone, especially in the modern world where you can hide behind a screen and comment on people using internet. However, you get a lot of respect when you become a great musician. You might want to check out the meet and greet sessions that bands have to do before performing on stage. The love they get from their listeners makes them even better persons. When you are getting that much of respect from people, only a cynic could respond back with disrespect and insult.
Sense of Achievement
How many times people start working on something with passion and actually achieve their goals? You must know how people make their resolutions before the New Year starts and fail to ever achieve their goals. When you start learning music you have a long way to go before you can call yourself a trained musician. However, once you have completed your training you are filled with a sense of achievement and satisfaction. This achievement alone makes you greatly confident that you can do things by being consistent and passionate about them.
Sense of Responsibility
It’s true that some musicians are always ruining the image of great musicians by being belligerent, disrespectful and racist, but it does not mean all musicians are like that. As an artist you realize that you have a whole world behind you. There are millions of people who are always following you. Any act that could be disgraceful could kill your career and embarrass you in front of the whole world. Think about Justin Bieber or Zain from One Direction as examples of acting irresponsibly and paying the price for doing so. In short, as a musician you are not responsible for your music only.
