Huckabee Campaign Running Low On Funds

On Tuesday, US Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has admitted and acknowledged that money is tight with his campaign with some staffers making pledges to continue working without pay. Others have left as a result. Despite the lack in funding, Huckabee has made a pledge to remain in the race through Florida’s GOP primary.

Huckabee spoke to a crowd of at least 50 people. Most of them were fraternity members at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He said that his campaign had to cut back and become more frugal. Huckabee would attend a private fundraiser in Gainesville on Tuesday night.

We are taking a look at everything daily,” Huckabee said. He added: “But we will be here every day in Florida until next week.”

So far, a poll released last week revealed that Huckabee is in a tight battle with Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and John McCain for Florida. This state is vital due to the only state voting on January 29 which will give the winner momentum into Super Tuesday.

Huckabee’s campaign had stopped arranging charter flights, hotel reservations, along with other means of helping reporters and journalists keep up with the movements. News organizations would have to pay for their own expenses.

Giuliani too has acknowledged that a dozen of his senior campaign workers were sacrificing their paychecks to stretch out the funding.
