Leh (Ladakh), April 15, (Scoop News)-Congress Party on Tuesday held a huge rally near historic Polo Ground in which thousands of party activists participated.
Supporters across Leh district took part in the gathering in support of Congress candidate for Lok Sabha, Tsering Samphel, from Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency. party leaders Nawang Rigzin Jora, Rigzin Spalbar and Tsering Samphel addressed the gathering and recounted the contributions made to Ladakh region by the Congress party.
At the end of the occasion a manifesto was also released: for Parliamentary Election 2014 in which various issues pertaining to the region were highlighted. The party announced that

1. UT status for Ladakh;
2. Inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India;
3. Implementation of Vision Document 2025 of LAHDC Leh vigorously;
4. Focus on land based economy to ensure sustainable development in Ladakh;
5. Expediting the construction of Nimo-Padum-Darcha road;
6. Increase flight frequency to Ladakh with affordable airfare;
7. Creation of teachers posts for Bhoti and Arabic languages;
8. Expediting construction of a multipurpose tunnel for Khardongla;
9. Connecting Ladakh with the National Power Grid;
10. University Status to CIBS Choglamsar;
11. Promote communal harmony in Ladakh;
12. Preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of Ladakh;
13. Bigger financial assistance from PSUs and Corporate Sectors for Ladakh under Corporate Social Responsibility schemes;
14. Promote micro and small scale industries;
15. Open an SSB detachment in Ladakh;
16. Creation of a Police Range in Ladakh;
17. Provide telecommunication coverage to all left out villages through mobile and DSPT services.
18. Opening of new areas for tourists;
19. Opening of Kailash Mansarovar for pilgrims and tourists;
20. Construction of new Air Terminal Building at Leh and extension of Kargil runway;
21. Construction of alternate road to Ladakh through Parangla;
22. Expediting construction of Zujila tunnel ;
23. Generation of 5000 MW in Leh and 2500 MW in Kargil through Mega
Solar Power Plants through the Ministry of Non-Conventional and Renewal Energy;
24. Generation of Geo-Thermal energy at Puga and Chumathang;
25. Opening of more ITIs/Skill Development Centres for imparting training and skills to educated unemployed youth;
26. Covering of larger number of unemployed under various self employment schemes;
27. Creation of women Battalion in Paramilitary forces/Army;
28. Value addition to natural resources of Ladakh including Pashmina,Seaburkthorn, herbal plants Horticultural and Agricultural produces, to encourage entrepreneur development to generate income and employment;
29. Early completion and functioning of satellite campus of Kashmir University at Taru to start PG courses.
