Alvaro Vargas Llosa is the son of Mario Vargas Llosa and is the co-author of Manual Del Perfecto Idiota Latinoamericano (Manual of the Perfect Latin American Idiot) which exposes the ideological blinders that hamper Latin American development. It contains a very amusing section of quotations from famous Latin American idiots, including a younger Mario Vargas Llosa in his Marxist phase. I strongly recommend it in Spanish or translation.
The younger Vargas Llosa’s is speaking at a forum by CEDICE (Centro de Divulgacion del Conocimiento Economico Para La Libertad http://www.cedice.org.ve/), an organization which I have been familiar with for years from my involvement with the Atlas Foundation.
The Miami-based Peruvian author claims that he was warned against "making political statements" during his stay. This is part and parcel of the buffoonish Hugo Chavez socialist regime’s attempt to gag opposition and even the mildest criticism with all manner of intimidation, including violence and threats of violence. There has been a rise in anti-Semitic incidents, many with ties to the Chavez regime and its "Bolivarian Revolution."
