Increasing in fee and poor performance of G.D. Lingland school lamented by human rights.
CHITRAL: Sayurj Public School and College, which was later on renamed as G.D. Lingland School on the name of its British Principal Major retired G.D. Lingland a veteran educationist from UK. This is the only educational institution which receiving a huge fund in term of grant from different organizations (donors, High officials ) and even from high profile politician of the country. The school is running under board of governor and District coordination Officer is performing as chairman board of Governors. Similarly this is like a semi government school. But some of its policies and poor performance were highly criticized by human rights in Chitral and warned that if not rectified they will challenge the school management in court of justice. Talking to local journalists Abdul Nasir president Legal Aid Forum for Human Rights (LAFH) said that G.D. Lingland school is the only educational institution in Chitral who entertaining two holidays in a week on Friday and Sunday. Besides they also exercise 10 holidays on the occasion of each Eid (Eidul Fitar and Edidul Azha) and 2 to 3 months in winter season due to sever cold weather just its working days and study periods are less than other schools. He said that its admission fee, tuition fee and transportation fee are also on high ratio than other schools and colleges.
Abdul Nasir also alleged that school vehicles (Buses) have been granted to this schools by some donors for pick and drop of students but mostly it using in marriage procession of staff and their relatives. He also lamented that the school administration increasing its fee after each quarter. Human rights president also pointed an important plea that according to provincial government notification if two real brothers are reading in one school fee of second brother would be charge half and in case of three real brothers reading in same school fee of third brother will be totally remitted and he will read free of cost but G.D. Lingland school administration not obey this order of provincial government. He also alleged that the school not celebrated parent day for the last so many years together parents and teachers for discussions some issues and addressing these problems. . He said that staff drawing high salary but their qualification not matching to their remuneration and their teaching is also week. Majority of them are private qualified staff. He said that a teacher of this school getting so charming package that a subject specialist can be recruited in this salary.
Abdul Nasir demanded for reviewing its policy and decreasing fee, and holidays and improving efficiency otherwise the school management including principal would be challenged in court of justice he warned. He said that although the British Principal is very nice person but his staffs deliberately exercising these tactics causing for troubles of parents whose children are reading in these school networks. Abul Nasir also appeal to high ups of education department and provincial government for taking necessary action in this regard.
