Human Rights Monitoring Committees convention.

CHITRAL: Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights (LAPH) a project of Easy & Equitable Access to Justice Program for Women of Chitral (EEAJP) arranged a one-day convention of Human Rights Monitoring Committees working in the entire district for protecting human rights. LAPH have opened their Human Rights Monitoring Committees (HRMC) at Chitral, Drosh, Garamchishma ,Mastuj (upper Chitral). Bumborate of Kalash valley. Male and female human rights activists both attended the convention from Muslim and Kalash (Non Muslim) community. Niaz Ali Shah Chairman Board of Director LAPH briefed the stakeholders regarding aim and objectives of LAPH and establishment of HRMC at entire district to protect human as well as women rights. He said that main objective of HRMC is to monitor and watch each and every human rights violation and to submit the case to main office at Chitral, which are trailing free of cost at different courts of Chitral. He said that LAPH trailing cases of poor and oppressed women free of cost, rehabilitating widows (women) through financial support and open their small business (shop etc) to earn their livelihood with fair means, supporting female students to decrease students dropt out ratio and increasing literacy ratio among female students, reflecting their problems in different print and electronic media our media cell and free cases through four legal cell as well as provision of waiting chairs for women at hospital, beds for women at district Jail (prison) Chitral and construction of waiting room at different Bus stop for women folk. He said that all members of Board of Directors are working on volunteer basis and trying of their best to raise awareness among the students and masses through different workshops, seminars, and conventions as well as among the students in school campaign. Miss Gul Shad Monitoring & Evaluation Officer of LAPH briefed the participants regarding women rights on legal point of view.
Ladies members of HRMC from Kalash community pointed out that Kalash women working on shoulder by shoulder with men in farming and other works but women from Muslim community are suffering from so many problems as they face to work day and nights and having no right to raise their voice against any violation. The participants were given task to write down some points regarding human rights and how to improve women rights and their status in the society. The participants given their presentation and explained the points voluntarily. Majority of the women participants complained that women folk are totally deprived from their basic human rights like counseling sharing, rights of property and there is great discrimination in education, health and other social segments and women folk are depriving from their basic rights as a result suicide ratio in women folk is high as comparative than other districts.
1. (SOT) Miss Zaina from Kalash community (Non Muslim) of Bumborate village: She said that we are not liberal to move freely as we want but in men dominating society our rights also violating by men.
2. (SOT) Miss Bibi Fatima who working in Chinar Arts and Handicraft Center Chitral as trainee. She said that women folk need more awareness regarding their rights if we are not aware about our rights we cant not preserve nor we protect it.
3. (SOT) Niaz Ali Shah Chairman Board of Director, Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights said that we have trailed 260 free cases of women to provide them their basic rights. He said while explaining their future vision that we want to establish our HRMC at each corner of Chitral to aware them about their basic rights and motivate them to protect their amenities.
