People deprived from Cash before Eid.
CHITRAL: Hundred of people were deprived from cash in different banks of Chitral on Friday. A large number of people were stand in long queue in front of National Bank of Pakistan main branch Chitral and Bank of Khyber to get their monthly salary and pension but they were very shocked when knew that there is no money in the bank. A large number of customers complained that they are waiting for the last 4 hours in front of Bank but they are not paying by bank staff with the excuse that the bank still has not received cash. Due to no payment to service men and pensioners a large number of people also failed to purchase a sacrificial animal for Eidul Azha. Hence only National Bank Drosh branch was paying to its clients on Friday. A contractor disclosed this scribe that he has submitted a cheque to bank and waiting for long time but his cheque was return to him due to no cash in the bank. In this connection when manager of a private bank contacted about availability of cash he said that only national bank distribute cash to other banks when there is no cash in state running bank (National Bank) how we can get cash?. Friday was only working day and banks will be closed on Saturday and Friday due to weekly holidays and on also on Monday and Tuesday due to Eid holidays and people of the area were not paid on Friday. A bank employee of National Bank told this scribe on the condition of anonymity that they collect Cash from down through PIA flight but due to regularly cancellation of PIA scheduled flights they could not get cash. Social and political circle of Chitral have demanded for conducting inquiry in this regard and demanded from high ups of Bank of Khyber and National bank to bound their staff at Chitral branches to arrange for getting money through road in case PIA flight cancel so as to solve public problems. It is worth to mention here that Manager National Bank of Pakistan Main Branch Chitral open his bank on Saturday to facilitate his customers. It was also revealed that he get money from business men on his own interest and pay to his clients to solve their problems. As bank is open 30% because according to instruction of State Bank of Pakistan government exchequers could not be open on Saturday (gazetted holiday).
