Hundreds of stranded OFWs in Jeddah call for help

Hundreds of stranded Overseas Filipino Workers who ran away from their abusive employers are in dire need of immediate help from the Philippine government. The mostly male OFWs were staying in Sarafiya district for months now. They are like refugees with no food, shelter and money and some of them are already emotionally and physically distressed.

The Filipino workers decided to stay in the open air Sarafiya district to let the Saudi authorities to process them for deportation, but reportedly the Saudi Police ignored their pleas to be deported. In the meantime, the inutile Philippine labor and embassy officials in Saudi Arabia are more than reluctant to help their own fellow countrymen.

To add insult to injury, the Philippine government is unmindful of the harsh condition of their own people, despite of the actual video footage showing the Filipino workers asking for help. They explained that it’s up for the Saudi authorities to solve the matter under their own terms and conditions.

The stranded Overseas Filipino Workers were joined by other nationalities from Indonesia and Pakistan. They have the same complaints of abusive employers and maltreatment and all of them are asking for help.
