With changing times, people changed themselves and so changed the attitude of VVIPs and VIPs. Those were days when people used to welcome Darbar in Jammu and in Kashmir with open hearts during its six monthly moves. But people are now not only scared but facing halts across the city of temples during the unprecedented movements. More bizarre is scene inside the civil secretariat. People are not being allowed to visit to their elected representatives for unknown reasons.
Hurdles in, halts outside
An old man of nearly 80 years old crying outside chief minister’s office for meeting him remained most attractive activity for visitors for the last two days. Carrying Sher-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohmad Abdulla’s group photograph of Special Convention of Representatives of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh in the year 1974, old man claimed of being driver of Sheikh. P.A Rashid said that he wanted to meet chief minister to appraise her daughter’s case (working in NHRM). He while recalling the earlier days said that present finance minister was teshil president and always used to urge him to keep space in cab for his sitting during tours to various locations for party programmes.
“For the last twenty five minutes traffic has been halted in the name of VVIP movement. I had to reach to my tutorial where I had to sit in weekly test at 1 pm, but it is 1 pm and I have reached to Panjthrthi only and I don’t know how more time it will take for road clearing” Shekha a 12 class student said.
Commoners are being befooled by politicians for vote politics, said a senior officer on conditions of not naming him. He said that rules are being made and amended by politicians for public interest but they forget the same while issuing D.O letters to innocent commoners which are not acceptable in offices according to law of land. To which out of hundreds of examples, one is that Member Parliament of ruling coalition issued D.O letter to one of the beneficiary’s of SRO-43 seeking age relaxation of 12 years. In fact as per the law established, even chief minister could only recommend age relaxation of five and half years and not a single day above, officer maintained.
