Hurricane Ike has hit Texas, causing floods which go on for hundreds of miles, power lines cut and billions of dollars worth of damage.
However, officials say that Ike had not been as bad as what they had thought it would be!
The hurricane has smashed Houston and Galveston throwing debris everywhere on the streets.
Few deaths have also been reported and storm surges as high as several feet crashing ashore.
Ike was a strong category 2 storm when it came ashore. Winds were as high as 110 MPH. but the hurricane had become a tropical storm by the mid-afternoon. Galveston was flooded with waves being sent over the 17-foot sea wall which was built to protect the city after the hurricane which destroyed the city back in 1900 when a hurricane had killed somewhat like 8,000 people!
