Dhaka, Apr 5: The news conference of Muhammad Yunus due on Tuesday afternoon has been postponed, the Grameen Bank said.
The Nobel laureate was scheduled to brief journalists at the Grameen Bank headquarters at Mirpur at 5:30pm.following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of the Bangladesh Bank’s order sacking him as Grameen Bank managing director.
The bank’s general manager informed hurriedly that "Due to unavoidable circumstances, the press briefing scheduled today (April 5) at 5:30 pm by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus has been postponed until further notice.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused."
Information and media co-ordinator in a text message added that a new time will be confirmed in time. However why the brief was arranged so promptly and why that was cancelled, nothing was told in the context!
Additional law and order force were deployed in front of the bank to ensure the entry of only journalists. Rapid Action Battalion joined the police around 4:30 pm.
