Srinagar, September 27, (Scoop News)_Appreciating the statement on Kashmir by Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharief, at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York wherein he has maintained that Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has counseled the Indian leadership to shun intransigence and start a result-oriented meaningful dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership to solve the long pending issue.
Terming the brave stance taken by Pakistan Prime minister on the floor of UNGA session as realistic, APHC leader said that UN resolutions provide legal and historical basis to Kashmir issue besides the international community has also recognized the significance of right to self determination of the people of the state.
He said that Kashmir issue could be solved either by implementing UN resolutions or through meaningful dialogue between the main stake holders to the Kashmir,India and Pakistan.
Mirwaiz said Indian intransigence and unrealistic approach to the talks cannot change the historical and political status of Kashmir, neither lasting peace would arrive in sub continent without solving
the dispute.
Meanwhile continuing with his visit to flood hit areas, APHC leader on Saturday visited the economic hubs of Kashmir including Residency Road, Poloview, Lambert Lane, Press Enclave and adjoining areas to assess the damage caused by the inundation.
Mirwaiz also expressed his solidarity with traders and residents of the area.
During the tour, he met number of trade delegations during which he expressed his profound regret over the losses to their business incurred by the devastating floods.
Asking people to remain patient in these times of crisis, Mirwaiz appealed people to show determination and courage to come out of the devastation caused by the floods.
He retreated that entire Kashmir community stands with the flood hit people.
Urging people to be united in view of the wide spread devastation caused by the ravaging floods, APHC leader said that the catastrophe of such scale could be dealt only if we remain resolved, committed and help each other in these times of crisis.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat spokesman has demanded immediate and unconditional release of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in Kashmir and outside Jails in view of the floods.
He said that the houses of many prisoners have been damaged during the floods and hence they should be immediately released.
