"Viru and Gambhir are doing very well at the moment. Opening slot is almost occupied but I am not disheartened. I am ready to bat at any slot," said Wasim Jaffer.
"An opening batsman can bat at any slot. One down, number four or even five. We have to face the new ball bowlers and spinners as well. It is difficult for a middle-order batsman to open but opener can adjust anywhere. If selectors find me fit for middle order then I am ready for it also," said Jaffer.
"Team India has equally good bench strength. Competition is getting tougher for each and every place. I think it is a good sign and it will encourage us to perform even better. On the other hand nobody’s place in the team is guaranteed, so if one keeps performing well he will get chance for sure," he said.
"I was expecting a chance for Srilanka tour last year but could not get it. Nevertheless I don’t have any hard feeling against anyone. Now I have sorted out all my problems and just want one chance to prove my mettle again," said Jaffer.
"I was mentally relaxed and made a bit change in my technique. IPL stint was also helpful but I could not play much due to injury. I have played some friendly matches to work on my drawbacks," he said.
"My job was to score runs and I have done that. Now it is upto the selectors whether they trust on me or not." said Jaffer.
"Indian players are performing really well and Dhoni has given them the confidence to beat anybody, anywhere in the world. It was lacking earlier. It is just a matter of time now before India becomes the number one team. Naturally I want to be a part of this invincible squad," he said.
