Commerce Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman on Thursday blamed the journalists and political analysts for creating confusion and uncertainty over holding of national election on time.
"I don’t see any confusion among the people over holding of parliamentary election in due time. But journalists and political analysts are creating confusion over the issue through their writings. There are thousand of reasons for creating of confusions among people but we will have to think whether we will be able to overcome the present situation. You (journalists and political analysts) should pick the positive side of the government which is still confident about holding of the parliamentary election on time," after attending inaugural session of DCCI trade fair 2008, in a sideline Hossain Zillur told reporters.
However, he further said there are confusions, problems and challenges over politics and this have to be resolved by the politicians, governments and people through judgment.
"In phases, we have crossed our avowed objectives and we are committed and determined that we will complete our objectives, initiatives and steps announced earlier amid barriers and confusion," Zillur added.
Earlier, the Commerce Adviser said while talking to newsmen at the secretariat yesterday afternoon, the main responsibility of the government is to hold the next parliamentary elections in an acceptable manner. The government is going forward with a view to achieving the goal.
Responding to a query as to whether the next December 18 polls will be delayed , he said, "Why? the question is being asked again and again though the government is trying its best to hold the parliamentary elections in time?" Such anticipation is causing doubt about the future of the polls. In spite of all adversities, the government will not deviate from its goal of holding the elections in time.
Answering another question about whether the elections will be obstructed by legal process because of constituency delimitation issue, he replied that in the past, we passed several hurdles and we will be able to create an atmosphere conducive to a fair and neutral election in the country by leaving all obstructions behind.
When asked, the Commerce Adviser said, it is a positive change that now the political parties are trying to build confidence among the people though it is very challenging for them. It will ensure transition to qualitative political culture in the country.
