I was worried about long lines after work so I went to vote early this morning. Actually, I was so excited I thought I would burst if I had to wait all day to go vote.
So I went down to the fire house (yes, I live in Mayberry) and voted. There were 3 tables for the different districts. One had no line, one had a line of 12 people and I only had 2 people ahead of me. I can barely express my excitement when I pulled the lever (as we do in NY) and voted for Obama. My heart soared!
And then when I went back to my car I burst into tears. Tears of joy, tears of relief. I never thought that I would vote for an African American for President in my lifetime. It is a historic day!
When I listened to Barack Obama speak at the Democratic convention 4 years ago my first thought was, " he should run for President." My next thought was, "but he would never be nominated."
But Barack Obama was nominated and is going to win. That’s not a prediction, that’s a fact. I am so proud to be an American. My heart soars!
