Ifra Kak made J&K theatre proud

Jammu, March 09 (Scoop News) –     A Jammu girl Ifra Kak  has been selected for prestigious International Performance Research Programme at University of Warwick, United Kingdom and is the first ever girl from “J&K” State to be selected for such a programme.

 

Daughter of renowned theatre and film personality Mushtaq Kak, Ifra worked under the  guidance of reputed and distinguished teachers like Dr. B. Anantha Krishnan, Prof. Mohan Maharshi, Prof. Ramgopal Bajaj, Dr. Sathyabrata Rout, Dr. Rajeev Velichetti, Noushad Mohammed kunju, Sreejith Ramanan and Dr. Bhikshu, as a Masters student in Performing Arts (Theatre), at the Hyderabad Central University is another feather added to her successful career.

Ifra had designed and directed many projects. His reputed production was  “SELF STORIES” which was a result of 15 day long theatre workshop with the inmates of Kot Bhalwal Central jail J & K.

 Another thing in her kitty is”SORDID TALES OF SUFFERING”a concept performance on the atrocities of women in Kashmir. Apart from that Ifrra had done the Dramatization of lydia avilov’s autobiography “Chekhov in my life” which ‘ was awarded mahindra excellence in theatre award and best of the year production by sahitya kala parishad,New Delhi.Apart from that ifra was the lighting designer for the play “Ghair Zaroori log” which was performed in prestigious Nandikar national theatre Festival and Ritwikk international theatre festival.

Ifra had also worked as the Assistant Director to Prof MOHAN MAHARISHI one of the eminent theatre personalities of india in his play “ALBERT’S BRIDGE” and has also assisted Prof N.J Bhikshu in his play “OEDIPUS REX”.Other then his she has designed the set for “DAAK GHAR” in Dogri directed by Dr Mushtaq Kak.

She had participated in the Bharat Rang Mahotsav which is the biggest international theatre festival conducted by the National School of Drama ( NSD), and has participated in ‘The Museum of Lost Pieces’ and “Reflection”which was brought to stage in the festival by the Department of Theatre, University of Hyderabad.Adding to this Ifra has worked with the orphan kids of Rainbow home,Hyderabaad and Deaf&Dumb kids of Ahuti centre,Hyderabaad.

Irfa participated in twelve (12) major theatre included Children’s Theatre Workshop- Dr Sudhir Mahajan 2004, Forum Theatre Workshop-Sruthi Bala (London) – 2009, Scenography Workshop- Deepan Sivaraman (London, India)-2009, Theatre Management Workshop- Kunt (Norway)-2009, Theatre Design Workshop-David Whittan ( Secretary General, IFTR, England)- 2010, Invisible theatre Workshop- Devendra Nath Sankaranarayan- 2009, Scenography Workshop- Robin Das (NSD)-2009, Acting Workshop- Douglas-Complicite (London)-2010, Community Theatre- Ola Johanson-Switzerland-2010, Advanced  Scenography Workshop- Deepan Sivaraman (London, India), Forum Theatre Workshop- Mark- USA-2010, Acting Workshop- Rajesh Tailang- NSD are to be included in this list.

While looking back to the earlier stages,Ifra started her career as a child artist with Doordarshan kendra,J&K. worked as a child artist in various serials “Habba khatoon”,”Shikast”,”amma”,”Aastha”,”Rasoolmeer”and many other.

 

Ifra was a student of Govt College for women ,Parade.Jammu made a record by winning three consecutive years first prize in “MONOACTING” competition organized by university of Jammu categorized as  “DISPLAY UR TALENT”.Besides all that ifra has a keen interest in nature photography and finds her camera as her Best friend.And source of inspiration for her is her Father whom she considers as her ideal and is desiring hard to work with him.Now one more feather has been added to her cap, Ifra had made J&K proud by making her way to the prestigious International Performance Research Programme at University of Warwick,United Kingdom and is the first ever girl from “J&K” State to be selected for such a programme.
