Iftikhar strongly condemns blowing of Rahman Baba’s mausoleum

PESHAWAR, Mar 05 :- The NWFP Minister for Information and Public Relations Mian Iftikhar Hussain while strongly condemning the blowing of the mausoleum of great Pushto Sufi Poet Abdur Rahman Baba with explosive material, has said, the persons involved in this heinous crime were now bent upon destroying the culture of Pukhtoon nation as well as shrines of their elite and elders.
             In a press statement issued here on Thursday, the Information Minister said that great Sufi Poet Abdur Rahman Baba had a great status for rendering valuable services for Pushto as well as Islam.
He said, in the earlier times, the verses from Rahman Baba’s poetry were used to be read in Juma Khutbas.
He said, Rahman Baba was a symbol of peace and fraternity and destroying his tomb was a coward act that could only be done by a hard-hearted man. He said that the people involved in this heinous crime were hate-able and the government would give exemplary punishment to the elements involved in the act.
            Mian Iftikhar appealed the people of the province to cooperate with the government in curbing the menace of terrorism so that the province could be made a land of peace in accordance with the thinking, peace and non-violence philosophy of Abdur Rahman Baba and Bacha Khan.
