Jakarta, Philipines: The Global Conference on Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2013, which was schedule to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali on October 22 to 25, 2013, confirmed canceled.
According to Head of Public Relations and Information Center, Ministry of Communication and Information Gatot S. Dewa Broto, detikINET said , ” Due to the short of funds the Global conference has been cancelled. We’ve reported informally to the IGF secretariat. IGF 2013 will cost around Rp 22 billion. Where from Id-IGF organizers had collected Rp 9 billion, while the Ministry of Communications allocates Rp 2.5 billion. So less around Rp 10.5 billion. Had also raised additional funds through the state budget or from BP3TI budget, but failed to materialize. The budget is already tight, with some nations willing to self-finance their own capital alias. So with a heavy heart we have to cancel, we apologize to stakeholders Indonesian internet.”
