Municipal Corporation (JMC) demolished illegally installed telecom tower by a
telecom services providing company at Bakshi Nagar today early morning. Tower
was installed during mid night with out seeking required permission from
municipal authorities. People of the locality had also expressed
dissatisfaction with construction of tower.

Infratel, widely known as Airtel hired contractors to install an unauthorized tower
backside of Hotel Karan in Bakshi Nagar area. Contractors worked though out
night and installed tower. But in the morning when people saw tower they
informed JMC authorities and also started demolishing the same. Enforcement
agency headed by S. D Tak on reaching the spot took cognizance and demolished
entire structure besides seized two vehicles and goods needed for construction.
“They
were warned earlier too but on surety of company’s officials for not performing
any wrong deed they were let to go” Enforcement Officer S. D Tak said. He added
that the company has applied for permission to JMC but it was rejected. He
questioned that without permission and will of people how come they (company)
could install a tower? He informed that later engineers of company had
approached to municipal authorities for release of goods and vehicles.
“Process
of identification of illegal towers is being done and those found without
request permits would be demolished” Commissioner JMC, S. C Sahni said. He
added that survey for other towers is in progress and illegal ones would be
demolished. Rejecting that all the towers in the city are illegally installed,
Mr Sahni said that illegal constructions of any sort will not be permitted.
It
is important to mention that telecom service providers were in headlines for
not fulfilling desired no objection certificates (NOC) from District administration, JMC, Pollution Control
Board and Power Development Commissioner. To which several crores been reported
that almost all the towers had been installed without seeking permission of
state exchequer have been lost, as reported by media. It has also from
different authorities and were running illegally.
