The Beatles were a pop and rock group from Liverpool, England, formed in 1960.

The Beatles primarily consisted of John Lennon (guitar,vocals),Paul McCartney (bass,guitar,vocals),George Harrison (guitar,vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums,vocals) throughout their career.

The Beatles are recognised for leading the mid-60´s musical ´´British Invasion´´ into the U.S.

Although their initial musical style was rooted in the 50´s Rock&Roll and home-grown skiffle, the group explored genres ranging from Tin pan Alley to psychedelick rock.

Their clothes, style and statement made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 60´s.

After the band broke up in the 1970, all four members embarked on solo careers.

Many people blame John´s obession with Yoko Ono and/or Paul´s new love, Linda Eastman, as the reason for the band´s break- up.

However, the band members had been growing apart for years. On August 20,1969,The Beatles recorded together for the very last time, and in 1970 the group officially dissolved.

John, Paul, George and Ringo went their separate ways.

Unfortunately, John´s life was cut short when a deranged fan shot him on December 8, 1980.

George died in November 29, 2002 from a long battle of throat cancer.

The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music.

The Beatles released more than 40 different singels, albums and EPs that reached number one, earning more number one albums (15) than any other group in UK chart history.

This commercial success was repeated in many other countries. Their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion records worldwide.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America,The Beatles have sold more albums in the U.S. than any other band.

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles number one of its list over 100 Greatest Rock&Roll Artists of All Time.

According to that same magazine The Beatles innovative music and cultural impact helped define the 60´s,and their influence on pop culture is still evident today.
