In regards to United States Election Day 2008, there have been incidences of voting issues taking place on the east coast. Incidents have been reported in North Carolina, Virginia, and New Jersey. Pennsylvania can now be added onto the list of states having issues at the polls.
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it is reported that at least six election board workers that are representing the GOP were ordered to leave their precincts. This is due to not having a court order to work on Election Day.
So far, it has been confirmed by Bill Rubin, the supervisor for the Philadelphia County Board of Elections. He explained that the Election Board requires an order from the court.
“The same thing happens in every election,” Rubin explained. He adds: “These are mostly minority areas that are heavily Democratic and there isn’t a lot of Republican representation.”
So far, the campaign for GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona isn’t to thrilled about the incident. According to Bill Porritt, a spokesman for the campaign, legal action might be taken.
Porritt explains that Republicans are being intimidated at the polls.
Looks like things are getting pretty dicey in Philadelphia. With this incident, Pennsylvania can be added to the list of states dealing with voting issues at the poll.
Perhaps there could be more to come from Philadelphia later in the day.
