Jammu, February 05, (Scoop News)-Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday vowed his endeavour to bring administration to the doorsteps of people all across the State particularly living in far-flung, backward and hilly areas. He said creation of New Administrative Units is a step further in this direction. “It will take all steps to expand public reach to government and transfer of governance from secretariat to grass roots”, he maintained.
“My government empowered people through various initiatives brought in historic legislations, conducted Panchayat elections and transfer powers to these democratic institutions so that people are largely involved in the development process. We took measures to bring transparency, make administration accommodate and strengthened institutions to check corruption”, he said and added that the creation of New Administrative Units in the State would strengthen these initiatives especially in translating the development plans into reality on ground successfully so that each area is benefited by the outcomes of gigantic development programme under implementation in the State.
The Chief Minister was talking to various deputations from different areas of the State who called on him here and conveyed their gratitude top him for creation of New Administrative Units in their areas as also concentrating on the holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir during the last five years.
The deputations also raised various development demands pertaining to their areas and sought Chief Minister’s intervention in getting these accommodated in the current financial year’s plan schemes.
The deputations led by Legislators Shamima Firdous of Habbakadal, Haji Ashraf of Sopore, Mohammad Yaseen Shah of Sonawar, Mohammad Irfan Shah of Batmalloo, Peer Afaq Ahmad of Zadibal Assembly Constituencies conveyed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for granting New Administrative Units in their constituencies and said that it would give fillip to the development activities in these areas.
They also congratulated the Chief Minister for making historic decisions and launching path braking initiatives to make people empowered, check corruption and address youth problems. They also mentioned the successful implementation of thousands of works during the last five year and expressed their confidence that the pace of development will be further accelerated during the current year.
A deputation from Ramban led by former MLA Chaman Lal extended gratitude and thanks on their behalf and on behalf of the people of Ramban District for creation of New Administrative Blocks in the District. They also appreciated the keenness of Omar Abdullah for the faster development of people living in rural and far-flung areas.
A deputation from Kathua led by Qasim-ud-Din in its meeting with the Chief Minister while expressing their thanks to the Chief Minister for creation of New Administrative Units in Kathua District said that the historic initiative of the Chief Minister has expanded the reach of government to the doorsteps of people particularly living in remote pockets and hilly areas of the State.
The deputations from Qazigund, Jammu, Mendhar and other areas during their meetings with the Chief Minister expressed the same feelings and prayed for the success and good health of Omar Abdullah. They also presented their memoranda pertaining to the development demands of their areas.
Students, various individuals, senior citizens, Sarpenches and Panches and Youth Leaders while interacting with the Chief Minister during their separate meetings highlighted the issues pertaining to their concern.
The Chief Minister while giving patient hearing to the deputations thanked them and the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their continuous support to help in restoration of peace and carrying forward development to all the corners of the State equitably.
Omar Abdullah said that people in far-flung, remote and inaccessible areas require better deal in the process of socio-economic development started by his government all across the State so that their economic and life conditions are brought up at par with other citizens of the State. He said inclusive development has been underlined as the benchmark in the policy planning of the coalition government and last five years witnessed conspicuous forward movement in this direction.
