Leh, January 08, (Scoop News)- The quarterly meeting of District Consultative Committee / District Level Review Committee Meeting of Bankers of Leh district was held today in Leh Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner / Chief Executive Officer, Leh Simrandeep Singh.
Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh Simrandeep Sigh inquired about the flow of credits through different banks operating in Leh especially under Kissan Credit Card ( KCC) scheme.
Responding to the query of DC, Leh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh informed the meeting that most of the banks in Leh have very good record in crediting loans under KCC, however he expressed serious concern over SBI, Choglamsar branch where farmers are facing difficulties in availing KCC loan.
DC, Leh directed Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh to conduct awareness camps in identified villages by involving banks to attract farmers so that they could avail loans for improving their livelihood from agriculture and allied sectors.
Observing the difficulties faced by farmers and benefactors of various schemes like Pension, MGNREGA and other schemes, DC, Leh asked J&K Bank Leh to open new branches in remote and far flung areas of Leh district for smooth and transparent transaction of money into the accounts of beneficiaries. He also suggested for looking into the possibilities of providing mobile banking services.
Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Anil Kumar Mattu apprised the meeting about the performance of banks in Leh in terms of Deposits/Advances, achievements of Govt. sponsored schemes like, KCC, JKSES, PMEGP, SGGY, ST/SC, SHG, SCC and SJSRY. He also informed the meeting that as against the benchmark of 60%, the CD ratio of all the banks operating in Leh district at the end of Q2 of FY 2013-14 stood at 21.69 % as against 21.61% at the end of last quarter, indicating an increase of 0.08%, despite the region facing many infrastructural problems such as power, road connectivity etc.
The meeting was attended by Assistant General Manager, RBI Ravinder Kaul, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Anil Kumar Mattu, ACD, Leh Dr. Zahida Bano, Dy. Director Employment, Tsering Paldan, Heads of concerned departments including Agriculture, Industries, Handicraft, Handloom and bank managers of various banks operating in Leh.
