Ali Mohammad Sagar unfurls National Flag at Pulwama
Underlining the importance of dialogue in solving the various vexed problems, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked all the parties to come forward for resolution of all the issues confronting the State
The Minister was speaking after hoisting the national flag at here today
While coming down heavily on the elements preaching the politics of hartals, the Minister said that by resorting to such tactics they are holding the people of the State hostage to their whims He said that the state has suffered a colossal loss in various sectors like economy, tourism and also our educational set up has also been hampered, which are detrimental to the interests of our younger generation “We are aware of the losses suffered by the people and will do our utmost in healing the wounds of the people,”, Sagar said while condemning the parties who are exploiting the situation for their political gains
Seeking people’s co-operation in restoration of complete peace and normalcy, Sagar said that the Government we are fully aware of the problems being faced by them and every care is being taken to redress their grieviences and foolproof mechanism has been put in place, so that they don’t suffer vis a vis essential supplies and food stocks He said the necessary instructions have already been passed to the administration to ensure that the problems of the people are mitigated
Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives in the recent tragedy in Leh, the Minister said that the Government is mobilizing all resources to help affected families in their rehabilitation He hoped that various philanthropic organizations would also come forward to help the Government in reaching out to the sufferers
The Minister unfurled the national flag, took salute and inspected the parade at the function
Among those, who participated in the Independence Day function included Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, SSP and other senior officers and prominent citizens
Taj unfurls National Flag at Baramulla
The Minister for PHE, Taj Mohi-ud-Din unfurled the national flag to celebrate the 64th Independence Day at District Police Lines, Baramulla today and took salute at the march past
In his address, Taj greeted the people on the occasion and reminded them of the supreme sacrifices made by the leaders of the freedom struggle of the country He said that dialogue and reconciliation hold the key to resolve issues amicably and appealed all shades of opinion to rise to the occasion for brining back normalcy in the State
Taj said that the government is well abreast with the grievances of the people, especially the youth and all available resources will be pooled to redress these He said that the government has decided to recruit 50,000 youth in different departments within the next few months
The Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, DIG NKR Muneer Khan, officers from civil, police and paramilitary forces and other district and sectoral officers were present at the celebrations
The contingents of CRPF, District Police, IRP, Fire and Emergency Services and students of various schools besides Army and school bands took part in the march past
Similar functions were also held at the tehsil headquarters across the district At Sopore, the Special Commissioner, M S Khan unfurled the national flag The Special IG North Kashmir, Pankaj Saxena and other officers were present at the function
Akhoon unfurls tri-colour at Shopian
Like other parts of the country, the 64th Independence Day was celebrated in Shopian District also
The Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon unfurled the tri-colour at sports stadium Shopiasn and took salute at the march past comprising contingents of JK Police, CRPF, JKAP and Fire Services
The District Development Commissioner, Shopian, M S Sood, Superintendent of Police, District officers and prominent citizens and large numbers of students were also present at the function
Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, Akhoon stressed to follow the path shown by them for making the nation more strong and upholding the hard won freedom of the country
The Minister expressed grief over the recent killings in the valley and appealed the people to supplement Government efforts for restoring normalcy in the Valley He said violence is not but dialogue and reconciliation was the key to solve the issues, as has been provede world over
Akhoon also appealed the mainstream parties to come to the fore for taking part in dialogue process for resolving issues as has been announced by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh recently

Minister for Agriculture, GhHassan Mir has called upon youth to utilize their energy for making their future bright and not waste precious time of their life
The Minister was speaking at 64thIndependence Day function at District Police Lines here this morning after unfurling the National Flag The contingents from JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home Guard, Fire and Emergency Services and Forest Protection force took part in the march past
“It is not the time for our youth to waste their precious time on the streets but to redouble efforts to take lead in every sphere of life for better future”, Mir said and added that civil society must play their role to chanalize their potential in right direction in the present circumstances He said that no one can afford to waste time and fritter away energy
Referring to the present situation, the Minister said that the education sector is suffering badly in the present circumstances and appealed the parents to send their wards to schools as the government has already asked the education authorities to keep the educational institutions open He also appealed the teaching community to take extra classes for completing the prescribed syllabus and reminded them of their duty to enlighten the younger generation
Saying that J&K is a political problem, Mir said that dialogue is the only effective way to resolve issues and sort out differences He welcomed the statement of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh in which he has asked political parties to evolve consensus with regard to the devolution of powers vis-à-vis the state
Asking the administration to reach out the people, the Minister stressed the need to provide succor to the people at this critical juncture He stressed upon the district administration to ensure that the supply of essential commodities at their respective ration ghats
Peerzada hoists tri-colour at Anantnag
Like other parts of the country, the 64th Independence Day was also celebrated with gaiety and fervor in Anantnag district
The Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at the march past at Government Degree College Boys, Anantnag The contingents of CRPF, JKAP, JKP, police, Fire and Emergency Services and Home guards participated in the march past
Addressing on the occasion, the Education Minister recalled the sacrifices made by the leaders of the country for achieving freedom from the British rule He paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahir Lal Nehru, Moulana Azad and other freedom fighters for getting independence from the clutches of colonial rule
Peerzada said that despite challenges and odds India has marched ahead in all spheres of life and has become a strong economic power in the world He, however, said that much more needs to be done for which peace is a pre-requisite
Expressing sorrow over the recent killings in the State during prevailing situation, Peerzada conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families He said it was more unfortunate that the education sector has become the first causality of the current situation which is detrimental to the interests of the younger generation in the long run He said the present coalition government led by Omar Abdullah is committed for rebuilding the infrastructure and creating employment for the youth so that they will have their role in the overall development of the State

Miss Sakina said that under the dynamic leadership of Omar Abdullah, an era of development has dawned in the State with roads, bridges and other basic infrastructure being build in every nook and corner of the State She said to overcome un-employment problem in the State the Sheri-Kashmir Employment Welfare Programme is under implementation successfully

In connection with Independence Day celebrations, the Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi today hoisted the National Flag at Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Stadium Bandipora

Asserting that the Jammu and Kashmir state is marching forward on the path of progress, Tara Chand said that in past five years special attention has been paid on the infrastructure development with generous assistance pouring in from the centre under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PP) The present ruling coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has not only taken forward the development works initiated by former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad but has also launched many new development projects with the aid from the centre, he added
He said this year the state has been granted a whooping annual plan of Rs 7200 crores by the centre, with special funds for the construction of bridges, roads, hospitals, schools and colleges, augmentation of power sector and development of all basic amenities in cities and villages under Prime Minister’s package The quantum of assistance from the centre has been unprecedented which also reflects the amount of concern it has towards the development of the state The coalition government continues to make all out efforts to implement these programmes successfully throughout the state, he added
Highlighting the policies of the present dispensation, Tara Chand said that the coalition government implemented sixth pay commission recommendations which benefitted around three and half lakh government employees He said that government is committed to tackle the problem of unemployment and in this direction an employment programme has already been announced He said vigorous efforts are being made to create more employment avenues for the unemployed youth of the state through special schemes beyond government and agriculture sectors He said special focus is being paid on generation of self employment avenues in industries, tourism, dairy farming etc, he added
Referring to achievements in education sector, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the two central universities one for Jammu and the other for Kashmir have been, besides many new colleges are also being opened which will bring a revolution in the education sector
Under JNNURM, UIDSSMT, BSUP, IHSDP, work on projects worth Rs 1200 crore is underway in various parts of the state to improve sewerage, drainage, water supply and other civic amenities in the state, he added He said the state Housing Board has been recognized to expedite the process of demarcation of land to provide residential accommodation to the people Under these schemes, thousand of shelterless people across the state have been provided tenements, while the people Below Poverty Line (BPL) are being given monetary assistance
The government has also spent thousands of crores to complete the sewerage scheme both in Jammu and Srinagar cities Many new projects have been initiated by the coalition government for the development of tourism spots and preservation and conservation of heritage buildings, monuments across the state, he added
He said that while many schemes are being implemented for urban development, the state government is also moving forward to fulfill its commitment for the development of rural areas having eighty percent population
Under NREGA scheme, the people are not only getting employment in the villages but the scheme also facilitated a new era of overall development To cater to the needs of people living along border vis-à-vis development, the coalition government is running various programmes like BADP with the central assistance The objective of these programmes is to provide the remote, inaccessible rural areas with all basic amenities so as to bring them at par with the urban areas
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in Leh tragedy He said that the entire nation stand with the people of Leh who suffered enormously both in terms of life and property in the recent natural calamity, adding that the central and state government are engaged in rescue operation with full might He said that security forces and the civil administration are working day and night to find the missing and restore the disrupted road and communication links besides helping the people to pick up the threads of life again

The main function was held at District Police lines Doda where the Minister for Health, Horticulture and floriculture Sham Lal Sharma hoisted the National flag and took salute at the march past
Speaking on the occasion, the minister paid tributes to the freedom fighters and said that they have secured independence for the nation by paying supreme sacrifices which should never be forgotten

The Minister extolled that recent announcement by the government of developing 200 villages of the state as model villages will help immensely in transforming the total picture of Jammu and Kashmir
Elucidating the development achievements registered during the past 18 months in the district, the Minister said that Rs 23 crore have been expended on construction of various roads and bridges, while Rs 1544 crore are being spent on development of 4 model villages under BADP
Similarly, Rs 4 crore are being spent on the up-gradation of SDH Samba, while 400 beneficiaries were provided dwelling units under IAY last year and 262 are targeted to be benefited this year He said 32 tube wells have been installed to augment potable water in the district, while Rs 32 crore has been incurred on construction of check dams
Later, the Minister presented gallantry awards to the retired army officers besides distributing prizes among the meritorious students

Maintaining that development of Jammu and Kashmir State particularly in inaccessible and hilly areas is the priority of the coalition government, he said massive road connectivity of far-flung villages under Prime Minister’s Re-construction Plan was bound to accelerate the socio-economic development
Describing tourism sector as another potential area for state’s economic growth, he said that in view of the ever increasing rush of pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine , Shri Amarnath Shrine and Shri Budha Amarnath ji Shrine, a number of tourist circuits has been created for boosting the tourism in the State He reiterated the government’s commitment of working for the emancipation of SC, ST and other backward classes, besides handicapped and under-privileged populace of the state
Bhalla informed that under UIDSSMT, the Government has sanctioned Rs 2940 crore for construction of surface drains, laying of water supply pipes in the uncovered areas, upgradation of internal lanes in the Poonch town
To provide employment to unskilled workers under MGNREGA, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 261575 lakh for providing job to 38000 families adding that Rs 208935 lakh have been spent for execution of 3570 works and 44,000 mandays have been generated so far He said that under this scheme, about 610 works which include construction of water harvesting tanks, bowlies, chak dams and soil conservation are under execution in peripheral areas of the district

The 64th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal and fervor here at Chogon Grounds Kishtwar, where Minister for R&B, GM Saroori hoisted the tricolor amidst reciting of National Anthem
The Minister inspected the parade before taking the salute at the march past presented by 38 contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, CISF, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets and students of various government and private schools of the district
