Jammu,February 25 (Scoop News) – As a part of national building efforts, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sangathan Jammu today organised a National Integration Camp (NIC) “Youth for Peace” in association with Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K police Public School, Miran Sahib and Border Security Force at Octroi Post, Suchetgarh.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports Prof. R. S. Chib was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Minister said
Prof. Chib, these volunteers would act as ambassadors and convey the message of love, brotherhood and peace of our state to their native states..
The Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, the sports infrastructure in the state is being upgraded day by day, adding that Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is also taking keen interest in the increasing youth related activities in the state to channelize their potential for betterment of society and country.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to the organisers for organising the camp ‘Youth for Peace, at border post, Suchetrgarh.
Chatopadhay appreciated the cultural programme presented by the participants depicting rich composite culture. He said that peaceful atmosphere is witnessed along the border, adding that now the land along the borders is also being cultivated.
As many as 150 volunteers from five states viz Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Haryana and five districts including Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Doda and Anantnag of the state are taking part in the camp.
Director General, YSS, S. A. Leharwal, Inspector General, BSF, S. Chattopadhaya, DIG, BSF, Vasudevan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, R. S. Pura Mr Ashwani Khajuria, District Youth Coordinator, Mr Nissar Ahmad Bhat, besides senior officers of YSS, NYK, prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
