Agence-France-Presse (AFP) on Monday reports that India has offered US$100 million for nearly 300,000 Tamils displaced during the civil war that ended recently. The civilian victims of the Sri Lankan civil war are reported to have been in temporary shelters at present.
Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who delivered his budget speech in the parliament, stated that the financial aid was aimed at the rehabilitation of the internally displaced as well as the reconstruction of the war-destroyed parts in Sri Lanka.
The people of Indian Tamil Nadu State are sympathetic towards the suffering Tamils in Sri Lanka.
